- Step 1
Add a translucent powder to your eyelids. If you're tired (or just look tired), you can also add the same powder beneath your eyes, which will make the circles or dark areas less noticeable. In any case, this step will give your eye a smooth base, remove moisture and keep the eyeliner from fading.
- Step 2
To apply wings, use a wand liquid
liner or a thin-brushed liner that comes in a tube, like Stila Smodge Pot. If you're used to a certain type of eyeliner, go with what is familiar. These last a long time (usually all day), so you won't need to redo your eyeliner wings once they're on right.
- Step 3
To unclump your liquid liner and make sure it goes on easily, put a little of it on your arms or otherwise make sure there isn't too much liner on your brush.
- Step 4
Line your lashes under your eyes and add
mascara . (This step is optional; but if you want mascara or eyeliner around your entire eye, now is the time to do it.) Slowly and carefully trace around your eye, starting at the inside. Then add a dash of mascara.
- Step 5
Make the wings by lining the top of your eye with a heavy coat, following your natural line as closely as possible. Extend it slightly. The easiest way to do it is in one fell swoop, starting at the inside and going out, instead of taking it piece by piece. Don't extend the line too far; it should be no more than halfway between the inner corner of your eye and your eyebrow. For a more dramatic look, you can make the line thicker.
